Governor Abbott Announces Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund Grant To Quantum Global Technologies
TelAve News/10899668
~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott revealed that Quantum Global Technologies, LLC (QGT) has been granted $3,074,255 from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) to establish a new services facility in Austin. This investment is expected to create 287 new jobs and bring in over $43 million in capital investment.
Governor Abbott expressed his excitement about this development, stating that "Texas is the hub for semiconductor innovation." He believes that QGT's expansion in Austin will not only create high-skilled jobs but also strengthen the domestic supply chain for advanced semiconductor chip manufacturing in the state. He added that Texas is where current technologies drive future innovation.
QGT, a subsidiary of Ultra Clean Holdings, Inc., specializes in providing ultra-high purity parts cleaning, process tool part recoating, and high-sensitivity micro contamination analysis for semiconductor device makers and wafer fabrication equipment markets. The new facility will be Ultra Clean's first location in North America equipped to service semiconductor fabrication chamber tool sets used in the production of 2nm chips for next-generation technologies.

Ultra Clean CEO James Xiao expressed his gratitude for the support from Governor Abbott's office and their commitment to strengthening Texas' semiconductor ecosystem. He stated that with the help of the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund, they can accelerate their expansion plans and develop a skilled workforce to support future semiconductor innovation in Texas.
Senator Sarah Eckhardt also welcomed QGT's expansion into Central Texas, stating that it will bring more quality jobs on the cutting edge of innovation. She believes this growth will not only benefit current residents but also future generations.
The establishment of QGT's new facility was made possible by Governor Abbott signing the Texas CHIPS Act into law in 2023. This act established both the TSIF grant program and the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Consortium (TSIC). These programs are administered by the Texas CHIPS Office within the Office of Economic Development & Tourism under Governor Abbott's office. They aim to leverage Texas' investments in the semiconductor industry, encourage companies to expand in the state, and develop the expertise and capacity of Texas institutions of higher education to maintain the state's position as a leader in semiconductor manufacturing.
For more information about QGT and their services, interested parties can visit their website. With this new investment, Texas is poised to continue its leadership in semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing.
