~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Rusty Peterson to the Governing Board of the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI). Peterson, a resident of Allen, will serve on the board until January 31, 2027.

TSBVI is a special public school that caters to students who are blind, deaf-blind, or visually impaired. It also serves as a statewide resource for parents and professionals working with these children. With his extensive experience and expertise, Peterson is expected to make valuable contributions to the board.

Peterson currently holds the position of executive director at JP Morgan Chase Bank and is a certified public accountant. He is also an active member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his professional commitments, Peterson volunteers with organizations such as Feed My Starting Children and BedStart.

Peterson's educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Accounting from the University of Oklahoma. His appointment to the TSBVI Governing Board is seen as a positive step towards providing quality education and resources for visually impaired students in Texas.
