~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott congratulated the City of Waxahachie for being designated as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas. This recognition comes after the city completed a multi-step certification process in the inaugural year of the program.

The Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community designation is a testament to the Waxahachie Convention & Visitors Bureau's commitment to developing tourism as an economic growth strategy. It also aims to boost local job creation and attract more visitors from across the nation and around the world.

Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of tourism to both local and state economies, stating that it supports one in 11 jobs in Texas. He also highlighted that travelers to and within Texas generate over $193.8 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state.

He encouraged all communities in Texas to apply for this designation, as it can further grow local tourism and create more jobs.

Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell praised Waxahachie for its hospitable community and year-round events calendar, making it a standout destination. With five distinct historic districts, its title as the "Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas," and the endearing Hachie Hearts Trail, Waxahachie offers visitors a rich tapestry of experiences.

Senator Bob Hall, representing Senate District 2, extended his congratulations to Waxahachie for earning this prestigious designation. He commended the city's vibrant culture, welcoming spirit, and commitment to providing unforgettable experiences for visitors.
