TelAve News/10900646
~ In a move to prioritize the voices of Texas educators in shaping the future of public education, Governor Greg Abbott has launched the Texas Classroom Commission. This teacher-led initiative aims to strengthen student achievement and make Texas the top state for educating children.
The Commission will build upon the significant investments in public education and teacher compensation made by Governor Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, and the Texas Legislature in recent sessions. It will bring together exemplary public school educators from across the state to develop practical recommendations that are informed by their experiences in the classroom.
Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of empowering teachers to improve student success and create a better learning environment. He stated, "Texas teachers know what their students need to succeed. The Texas Classroom Commission will bring together exemplary public school educators to identify innovative solutions that help students succeed, improve the learning environment in classrooms, and strengthen our schools."

The Commission's recommendations will be presented to Governor Abbott, the Texas Education Agency, and the Texas Legislature before the 90th Legislative Session begins. Its focus will be on enhancing classroom instruction, supporting teachers, improving learning environments, and ensuring that Texas students are prepared for success.
Lieutenant Governor Patrick also expressed his commitment to supporting teachers and students through this initiative. He said, "Other than a parent, no person is more influential in a child's development than a teacher." He went on to highlight his efforts in raising teacher salaries and providing additional resources for classrooms. He believes that empowering teachers through this commission will lead to even better educational outcomes for students.
Speaker Burrows echoed these sentiments and emphasized that teachers play a crucial role in shaping future generations. He stated, "Last session, the Texas Legislature made an unprecedented investment in public education." He highlighted measures such as permanent teacher pay raises and increased funding for teacher incentive programs as evidence of their support for educators. Speaker Burrows looks forward to seeing how Governor Abbott's commission can build upon this progress and further improve the education system in Texas.
