~ Sacramento, California - In a move to recognize and celebrate the contributions of older Californians, Governor Gavin Newsom has declared May 2025 as "Older Californians Month." The proclamation was issued today and highlights the significant impact that older residents have on the state's families, communities, and economy.

With nearly nine million older residents in California, the state is home to a diverse population that brings a wealth of life experiences and cultures. By 2030, it is estimated that one in four Californians will be 60 or older, with over one million reaching the age of 85 or above. Governor Newsom's administration has been actively working towards this goal through its 10-year Master Plan for Aging.
