TelAve News/10904620
Government of Canada Job Bank rates the outlook for medical administrative assistants in Alberta as "Good" through 2027 — ABM College's online healthcare administration diplomas prepare students for the openings.

CALGARY, Alberta - TelAve -- As Canada's aging population drives sustained demand for healthcare support staff, ABM College is expanding access to its online healthcare administration diploma programs for students across the country. The Government of Canada Job Bank rates the employment outlook for medical administrative assistants in Alberta as "Good" for the 2025-2027 period, with roughly 9,150 people already working in the occupation and both employment growth and retirements expected to create new openings.

Demand is not limited to one role. Job Bank wage data shows medical administrative assistants in Alberta earning a median of $21 per hour and up to $29 per hour, dental office assistants earning up to $30 per hour, and pharmacy assistants up to $25.60 per hour - accessible, stable careers that typically require a diploma rather than a university degree.

"Employers across clinics, dental offices, and pharmacies consistently tell us they need trained administrative staff who can start contributing on day one. Our programs are built around that reality - online delivery with live instruction, followed by a practicum placement in a real workplace," said Kiran Vijay S of ABM College.

ABM College's healthcare administration pathway includes four online diploma programs, each with a practicum placement:

- Medical Office Assistant and Unit Clerk (MOA) Diploma - clinic and hospital front-office administration
- Dental Office Administration (DOA) Diploma - dental practice management and billing
- Pharmacy Assistant (PHA) Diploma - pharmacy operations and customer care
- Addictions and Community Service Worker Diploma - support roles in community services, mental health, and addictions recovery

Programs are delivered online with live instruction, allowing students in Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, and across Canada to study without relocating. Intakes run year-round, and advisors help students explore funding options including student aid.
