Historic Schooner Maple Leaf Marks 40 Years with Canada Day Invitation
TelAve News/10899128
To celebrate 40 years of expedition travel, Maple Leaf Adventures invites Canadian residents, citizens, and members of the Canadian diaspora to rediscover Canada's Pacific coast aboard the historic schooner Maple Leaf during the 2026 sailing season.
VICTORIA, British Columbia - TelAve -- BRITISH COLUMBIA – Maple Leaf Adventures is celebrating four decades of expedition travel by launching a special Canada Day invitation for Canadian residents, Canadian citizens, and members of the Canadian diaspora. The initiative is intended to encourage Canadians at home and abroad to experience the coastal landscapes, wildlife, and maritime heritage of British Columbia and Alaska aboard the historic schooner Maple Leaf during the 2026 season.
The announcement coincides with the 40th anniversary of Maple Leaf Adventures and highlights a vessel whose own history stretches back more than a century. Built in Vancouver in 1904, Maple Leaf was originally commissioned as one of British Columbia's premier sailing yachts. During its long working life, the vessel also served as a commercial fishing boat and Bering Sea halibut schooner before undergoing an extensive restoration that returned it to sail.

Following a seven-year restoration project, Maple Leaf was relaunched during Vancouver's Expo 86 celebrations and began a new chapter as an expedition vessel. Since then, the schooner has carried thousands of guests through the waterways of British Columbia and Alaska, exploring remote fjords, island archipelagos, wildlife habitats, Indigenous cultural landscapes, and some of the most spectacular coastal environments in North America.
Over the past forty years, Maple Leaf Adventures has helped introduce travellers to regions that were once largely unknown outside local communities, including the Great Bear Rainforest, the Inside Passage, Haida Gwaii, and the coastal waters of Southeast Alaska. The company continues to focus on small-group expeditions that emphasize wildlife viewing, cultural understanding, conservation, and immersive exploration.
The Canada Day initiative is intended to reconnect Canadians with their coastal heritage and encourage them to experience the country from a unique perspective. The invitation is available to qualifying new guests on 2026 voyages aboard Maple Leaf.
