Icla da Silva Foundation to Host Free Virtual Celebration of a 13-Year-Old's Lasting Legacy

Learn how one young girl's wish became a nonprofit that has helped thousands of patients reach lifesaving bone marrow transplants.
NEW YORK - TelAve -- The Icla da Silva Foundation will host "Icla's Wish: Saving Lives for 34 Years," a free virtual event on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. ET, honoring the legacy of Icla da Silva, whose wish to help others continues to change lives more than three decades later.
Diagnosed with leukemia at age 11, Icla dreamed of helping other patients facing the same disease. Although she passed away in 1991, her wish inspired the creation of the Icla da Silva Foundation, which has helped thousands of patients overcome financial barriers to receiving a lifesaving bone marrow transplant.
During the virtual event, viewers will hear Icla's story, learn how her legacy continues through the Foundation's work, and meet patients whose lives have been impacted by donor and community support.
