~ Idaho Falls, ID - A massive vegetation fire in the Henry Creek area was successfully contained by a multiagency response on Tuesday night. The fire, which burned approximately 482 acres, was reported to the Idaho Falls Fire Department at around 11:45 p.m. on July 28th.

According to reports, the fire started on a hillside near the Cast Iron cul-de-sac and quickly spread through dry brush due to strong winds. The fast-moving flames posed a threat to nearby homes and structures, prompting a large coordinated effort from local, state, and federal fire agencies.

Under a unified command between the Idaho Falls Fire Department and the Bureau of Land Management, additional resources from Bonneville County Fire District No. 1, Ucon Fire Department, Swan Valley Fire District, and the Henry Creek Range Association were deployed to assist in suppression efforts.

The Idaho Falls Fire Department dispatched several units including Battalion Chief 1, Brush 2, Tender 5, Brush 6, Engine 7 and Brush 7. The Bureau of Land Management also contributed with two bulldozers, five heavy engines, four brush engines and an aircraft. Other assisting agencies provided additional engines, brush trucks, command staff and water tenders throughout the night.

Despite no evacuation order being issued for residents in the area, some chose to voluntarily evacuate as firefighters worked tirelessly to protect their homes. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies and favorable wind conditions, no homes or structures were lost in the blaze.

As of Wednesday morning, firefighters remained on scene conducting perimeter patrols and mopping up hot spots to ensure that the fire remained contained. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

This successful multiagency response serves as a reminder of how crucial it is for different departments to work together during emergency situations. The Idaho Falls Fire Department commends all agencies involved for their swift action in containing this potentially destructive fire.
