Juneau: Eaglecrest Board Appoints Julie Piper as Next General Manager

~ The Eaglecrest Ski Area has announced the appointment of Julie Jackson Piper as their new General Manager. The decision was made at a special meeting of the Eaglecrest Board on July 7.

Brandon Cullum, President of the Eaglecrest Board, expressed his excitement about Piper's selection, stating that she is the perfect fit to lead the staff and support the board. He also mentioned her ability to inspire confidence with the Assembly as they prepare for the upcoming ski season and address long-term sustainability concerns.

Piper brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as Recreation Manager for the City of Richland, Washington since 2018. She also has prior experience as Aquatics Manager for the City and Borough of Juneau and Youth & Community Outreach Coordinator & Snowsports School Supervisor at Eaglecrest. Additionally, Piper holds a Bachelor of Science in Ski Area Business Management from Northern Michigan University.

In response to her appointment, Piper expressed her honor in joining Eaglecrest's dedicated staff and engaged Board of Directors. She sees this as an opportunity to strengthen their connection with the community, enhance the year-round mountain experience, and ensure that Eaglecrest continues to thrive for generations to come.

Piper will officially begin her new role on August 31, 2026 and will receive an annual salary of $134,014.40. As per tradition, the Eaglecrest General Manager is selected and supervised by the Eaglecrest Board. The City and Borough of Juneau Human Resources Department conducted an initial screening of applicants before the Board Human Resources Committee conducted remote interviews with candidates. A finalist was then chosen for an in-person interview at last week's Eaglecrest Board meeting.
