HARTFORD, Conn. - TelAve -- Award-Winning "Kemet: One Nation, Many Journeys" PSA Highlights Black History Month
HARTFORD, CT, February 1, 2026 — This Black History Month, Hartford, Connecticut-based filmmaker and creator Joe Young is sharing a powerful message of history and unity through "Kemet: One Nation, Many Journeys", an award-winning Public Service Announcement (PSA) filmed at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The PSA is part of a campaign that draws focus on America's shared immigrant history and contributions to cultural diversity that spans 250 years (1776–2026).
Produced by Young's nonprofit CAN DO, Inc., the PSA features Kemet the Time Traveler, a Black cultural hero who guides viewers through America's collective humanity. The project recently received the Platinum Award (highest honor) in the Education category from the AVA Digital Awards and has aired on television stations in multiple United States markets.

Young, who holds a Master's degree in Organizational Leadership from Goodwin University, created the project to make history accessible, engaging, and meaningful for audiences of all ages.
"Black history is American history," says Young. "This Public Service Announcement is about understanding where we come from — and choosing compassion and unity moving forward."
The PSA includes an original anthem — a mashup of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" and "The Star-Spangled Banner" — produced by Young and Grammy Award nominee Curtis Richardson, performed by award-winning singer Cruz Angel, and featuring students from University of Bridgeport Choir.
"By honoring the stories of immigrants, we shine a light on a nation that thrives when people dare to cross horizons," says Emmy Award winner Sir Shefik Macauley, a Producer of "Kemet: One Nation, Many Journeys". Shefik also serves as Special Envoy to the United Nations for the Sovereign Imperial and Royal House of Ghassan.
"Kemet: One Nation, Many Journeys" is available for broadcast, interviews, and community screenings during Black History Month.
