Lee County Legal Aid Society receives grant from Funding Florida Legal Aid

TelAve News/10889289
FORT MYERS, Fla. - TelAve -- Lee County Legal Aid Society received a grant from Funding Florida Legal Aid (FFLA) to help fund the Legal Aid Society's mission to provide free civil legal assistance to low‑income county residents, ensuring individuals have access to legal help in critical areas of need.

"This support reflects a shared belief that every person deserves equal access to justice, no matter their financial circumstances," said Andrew Banyai, executive director of Lee County Legal Aid Society. "FFLA's investment strengthens our ability to protect families, stabilize households and stand with vulnerable residents when they need legal help the most."

The grant will help the Legal Aid Society to grow its legal team with additional attorneys and a dedicated paralegal, increasing capacity to meet rising demand for free, high‑quality civil legal assistance. Funding will also support the expansion of the organization's housing law program to protect more families from displacement and unsafe living conditions. In addition, the Legal Aid Society will launch a new elder law initiative to safeguard the rights and well‑being of Florida seniors.

Since opening its doors in 1967, the organization has focused on protecting vulnerable residents by addressing the systemic barriers that prevent people from accessing the justice system.
