Local College Student Models at Rummage Sale to Help Raise Scholarship Funds
TelAve News/10843865
COSTA MESA, Calif. - TelAve -- When Costa Mesa resident Lena DeLao walked into the Costa Mesa Women's Club Rummage Sale, little did she know her visit would take an unexpected turn. The Club was in need of a model to showcase the incredible clothing donations. Lena didn't hesitate and was soon modeling an evening dress from a New York designer that just happened to fit her perfectly. Club members accessorized the dress, and our avid bargain shopper became a Club ambassador.
Lena, a student at California State University Channel Islands, was sent the notice of the rummage sale by her mother. She easily fitted in with the enthusiastic women of the 103-year-old Costa Mesa Women's Club, whose service to the community includes raising funds for scholarships, art events, and other philanthropic work. Also lending a hand was local photographer Matt Fitt, who donated his time and services to photograph Lena, along with many of the high-quality items that contributed to the rummage sale.

The annual Costa Mesa Women's Club Rummage Sale has multiple goals: to engage with the community for donations; to raise money for scholarships, cultural events, the hungry, and the homeless; to provide good quality items to local families and individuals on a budget or on the streets; and to donate unsold items to the less fortunate in the community. "These initiatives enrich the local community by fostering education, creativity, and opportunities for residents," said 2nd Vice President of the club, Amelia Painter.
If this sounds like your kind of place, our next monthly luncheon will be held on Friday, October 18th at 11:30 am at the clubhouse on 610 W. 18th Street, Costa Mesa. Come and enjoy a healthy meal and an interesting program.
