Long Beach Airport Ready for Thanksgiving Travel Rush

TelAve News/10881482
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach Airport (LGB) is gearing up for a busy Thanksgiving holiday as an estimated 110,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport during the 10-day period from November 21 to November 30. The airport, known for its ease, comfort, and charm, is encouraging travelers to plan ahead for a smooth and stress-free journey.

According to Mayor Rex Richardson, Long Beach Airport plays a crucial role in connecting people during this time of year. He stated, "Even on the busiest travel days of the year - whether you're flying in or flying out - you'll experience the ease, comfort and charm that make Long Beach Airport so special."

The Sunday after Thanksgiving (November 30) is expected to be the busiest travel day at LGB. Other heavy travel days include November 21, 23, and 26 when more than 12,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport each day - about 20% more than a typical November day.

To spread some holiday cheer, travelers can enjoy festive decorations and musical performances in the airport's award-winning indoor-outdoor concourse. Cynthia Guidry, Airport Director at LGB, emphasized that their team works hard to keep the Long Beach experience relaxed and efficient during this stressful time of year. She said, "From the moment passengers arrive, they feel the difference at Long Beach Airport. We're proud to make holiday travel something to look forward to."

To ensure a smooth journey for all passengers this Thanksgiving season, LGB recommends arriving at least 90 minutes early for morning flights. This will allow enough time to pass through security without any delays. For those picking up passengers from the airport, LGB offers two free Cell Phone Waiting Lots located on Lakewood Boulevard and East Donald Douglas Drive. Waiting in these designated areas until your passenger calls will help reduce congestion around the airport.

Parking is available in Structures A and B and can be reserved in advance on the airport's website. For added convenience, valet service is also available at 4137 Donald Douglas Drive, just north of the Historic Terminal. It is important for travelers to check their airline's baggage rules and flight schedules in advance to avoid any last-minute surprises.

To make the security screening process smoother, LGB advises passengers to pack properly and visit the Transportation Security Administration's "What Can I Bring?" website for details on what items are allowed in carry-on luggage. Travelers with pets or service animals should also take note of the relief area located north of the Historic Terminal and check their airline's policies for traveling with animals beforehand.
