Mesa Public Library Reveals Special Edition Jimmy Eat World Library Card
TelAve News/10908278
~ Mesa Public Library is partnering with Jimmy Eat World on a limited-edition library card marking the library's 120th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of the band's album "Bleed American."
The card, designed to resemble a vintage concert ticket, includes references to both the library and the band. It will be available at all Mesa Public Library locations starting Saturday, Oct. 10.
All four members of Jimmy Eat World grew up in Mesa and attended Mountain View and Westwood high schools. The band formed in 1993 and is currently touring in connection with the album anniversary.
"We all grew up within a mile or so of the library in downtown Mesa and some of our earliest memories as kids were visits with our families or classmates to check out our favorite books," the band said in a statement. It added that it supports public libraries, particularly Mesa Public Library, for its contributions to the community.

Library Director Polly Bonnett said the collaboration celebrates the library's anniversary and Mesa's local history. "We believe that stories and music have the power to transform lives," she said.
The library will hold a 120th anniversary celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Main Library, 64 E. First St.
Current cardholders can exchange their existing card for the new design at no cost. New members can register at any branch with photo identification. The library has four full-service locations: the Main Library; Dobson Ranch Library, 2425 S. Dobson Road; Gateway Library, 5036 S. Eastmark Parkway; and Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Road.
Library cards are free to people who live in Maricopa County for at least 30 consecutive days a year, work or own property in the county, or attend school there.
