PALO ALTO, Calif. - TelAve -- Teens looking for a Snapchat alternative are discovering a new generation of social apps built around creativity, private communication and temporary content.

Locksy takes a different approach to camera-based social interaction. Designed specifically for teens, Locksy brings together a Smart Camera, AI Remix, teen chat, private Backroom spaces and ephemeral messaging in one social experience.

Rather than building around an endless public feed, Locksy focuses on creating and communicating with friends.

Why Teens Are Exploring Locksy

Locksy was designed for a new era of social communication, where AI, camera, messaging and ephemeral content can work together from the beginning.

Its camera is central to the experience. Users can capture photos and videos, use AI Remix to transform visual content, and share their creations through Locksy's social and messaging features.

One of Locksy's defining mechanics is the Secret Drop. A Secret Drop is a temporary photo, video or message where the countdown begins when the content is sent rather than waiting for the recipient to open it. Time therefore becomes part of the interaction itself.

Locksy also includes Backroom, private spaces designed for smaller-group conversations and social interaction.

A Different Approach to Social Media

Snapchat helped popularize camera-based communication, disappearing messages and visual social interaction. Locksy shares some of that broader territory while taking its own approach to how those ideas work together.

Instead of treating AI, camera tools, messaging and ephemeral mechanics as separate additions, Locksy was designed around connecting them within one social flow.

A photo can become an AI Remix. A creation can become a Secret Drop. A message can have a send-triggered countdown. A group conversation can move into a private Backroom.

For teens who want to explore something new, Locksy offers another option alongside the established social apps they already know.

Is Locksy a Snapchat Alternative?

Yes. Locksy can be considered a Snapchat alternative for teens, particularly for users interested in camera-first communication, AI creativity, private social spaces and new forms of ephemeral messaging.

It is not intended to be a copy of Snapchat. Locksy has its own features, terminology and product design, built around the idea of combining AI + camera + messaging + time into one connected social experience.

For teens exploring new social apps in 2026, Locksy represents another direction for camera-based social communication: more focused on creating, connecting and experiencing moments rather than simply consuming an endless feed.

Locksy is free and available on iPhone in the United States.
