New Study Shows ISO 45001 Reduces Workplace Risk and Strengthens Business Credibility
TelAve News/10899462
The Compliance Companion's latest research report shows how ISO 45001 helps organisations reduce workplace disruption, improve due diligence, strengthen employee engagement, and build trust with clients and procurement bodies
NEWPORT, U.K. - TelAve -- The Compliance Companion has published the fourth report in its Research Series, examining the real-world business impact of ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management systems.
The report, The Real-World Impact of ISO 45001, reviews evidence from academic research, regulator statistics, international labour data, insurer publications, procurement guidance, and industry studies to assess how structured health and safety management systems affect organisational performance.
While ISO 45001 is often viewed as a health and safety certificate, the report argues that its value extends beyond compliance. When implemented properly, ISO 45001 can help organisations reduce workplace disruption, improve workforce engagement, strengthen legal defensibility, and build credibility with clients, insurers, regulators, and procurement bodies.
The report highlights the scale of the issue facing businesses. In Great Britain, 40.1 million working days are lost each year due to work-related illness and workplace injury, while workplace injury and ill health costs an estimated £22.9 billion annually. Research also shows that investment in occupational safety and health can return around 2.2 times the amount invested.

The findings show that ISO 45001 helps organisations create a more systematic approach to health and safety by improving hazard identification, risk assessment, worker consultation, incident investigation, corrective action, internal audit, and management review.
Russell Lawson, founder of The Compliance Companion, said:
"ISO 45001 is often seen simply as a health and safety certificate, but the evidence shows it can deliver much wider value. When properly embedded, it helps organisations reduce disruption, improve worker engagement, demonstrate due diligence, and build confidence with customers and regulators."
The report concludes that ISO 45001 should be viewed as a practical business improvement tool, not just a paperwork exercise or audit requirement.
The Real-World Impact of ISO 45001 is the fourth publication in The Compliance Companion Research Series, following previous reports on ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and ISO 14001.
