TelAve News/10904866
Statewide initiative will make flexible, standards-aligned project-based learning more accessible to Minnesota students in grades 9-12.
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. - TelAve -- Northern Lights Community School (NLCS) and Centric Learning announced a statewide partnership to make high-quality online project-based learning more accessible to Minnesota students in grades 9-12.
Combining NLCS educators' expertise in student-centered learning with Centric Learning's online curriculum, platform, and project-based resources will create flexible opportunities for students to explore meaningful questions, connect learning across subjects, and demonstrate knowledge through real-world work.
The collaboration reflects a shared belief that students engage more deeply when learning is relevant, challenging, and purposeful. NLCS will contribute its experience in project design, personalized learning, advisory relationships, and student support. Centric Learning will provide adaptable online curriculum, project-based learning tools, and competency-based assessments supporting feedback, revision, and mastery.

"This partnership gives our students more opportunities to see purpose in what they are learning and to apply their knowledge through meaningful work. Centric Learning's project-based approach aligns with our commitment to helping students build confidence, independence, and skills they can carry into college, careers, and life."
— Orlend Menze, Director, Northern Lights Community School
Teachers will remain central, guiding students as they plan, create, revise, and communicate their work. Progress information and competency-based feedback will help educators identify when students need more challenge, additional time, or targeted support.
"Northern Lights Community School shares our belief that students engage more deeply when learning is relevant, challenging, and connected to the world around them. We are excited to work alongside Orlend and the Northern Lights team to give students a learning experience that values curiosity, voice, reflection, and genuine mastery."
