Patent-Pending Disaster Bag Introduces Innovative Approach to Vehicle Flood Protection
TelAve News/10903562
Disaster Bag is designed to encapsulate a vehicle before flooding occurs, creating a protective barrier against potentially damaging floodwater.
CHICAGO - TelAve -- , ViaiAs communities face the threat of severe storms and flooding, protecting parked vehicles can present a significant challenge. A patent-pending concept known as Disaster Bag has been developed to provide vehicle owners with a proactive method of protecting cars and trucks when flooding is anticipated.
Disaster Bag is designed as a durable enclosure capable of surrounding a vehicle. To deploy the system, the enclosure is first spread open on the ground. The vehicle is positioned on the center portion, after which the sides are raised around the vehicle and secured over the roof.
Once secured, the enclosure is designed to create a protective barrier between the vehicle and surrounding floodwater.

The concept also incorporates pressure-release valves that allow trapped air to escape during the sealing process. Anchoring and securing features are incorporated into the design to help provide additional stability during flood conditions.
The exterior of the enclosure is contemplated as a durable waterproof material capable of withstanding demanding environmental conditions. The design may also incorporate a softer interior surface intended to help protect vehicle finishes while the automobile is enclosed.
The concept addresses an important concern for vehicle owners in communities susceptible to hurricanes, severe storms, flash flooding, and other events that can cause rapidly rising water.
Flood damage can affect numerous vehicle systems and may leave an automobile requiring extensive repairs or replacement. Beyond the financial loss, losing access to a vehicle can leave owners without reliable transportation while repairs, insurance claims, or replacement arrangements are completed.

Disaster Bag was conceived as a way for owners to take protective action before those conditions occur.
By combining a full-vehicle enclosure with pressure relief and securing features, the concept offers an alternative approach to traditional exterior vehicle covers and other preparedness measures.
Potential markets for Disaster Bag include automotive accessories, emergency and disaster preparedness, severe-weather protection, residential vehicle protection, and related consumer markets.
The patent-pending Disaster Bag is currently available for licensing opportunities with companies interested in further developing, manufacturing, marketing, or commercializing the concept.
