POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. - TelAve -- On Sunday, July 26, 2026, the Powder Springs Community Taskforce, in partnership with NBA player and McEachern High School alumnus Isaac Okoro, proudly hosted its 25th Annual Back2School Bash at the Ron Anderson Recreation Center. The milestone event welcomed hundreds of local families for a day of free resources, entertainment, and community engagement to help students prepare for the upcoming school year.

Made possible through the generosity of sponsors, donors, and community partners, every service and activity at the event was provided free of charge. Families received backpacks filled with school supplies while enjoying complimentary food, sorbet, a hydration station, free haircuts and hairstyling, eye exams, face painting, live music, a game truck, and a food truck.

The event created an atmosphere of excitement and gratitude as students prepared to return to school and parents connected with valuable community resources.

A highlight of the celebration was the participation of Isaac Okoro, who spent the entire afternoon meeting with families, signing jerseys for children and parents, and encouraging local youth. His commitment to giving back to the community where he grew up made the event especially meaningful for attendees.

The Powder Springs Community Taskforce also extends its appreciation to Captain Lennox Clark, the Cobb County Police Department, and the Powder Springs Police Department for their support. Officers engaged with parents and students, helping strengthen positive relationships between law enforcement and the community while providing safety and crowd management throughout the event.

"Our 25th Annual Back2School Bash is a testament to what can be accomplished when a community comes together to invest in its children," said Deborah Douglin, Chair of the Back2School Bash and Vice Chair of the Powder Springs Community Taskforce. "Through partnerships like the one we share with Isaac Okoro, we can remove barriers for families, celebrate our students, and ensure they begin the school year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed."

Isaac Okoro's partnership was instrumental in the success of the event. His support included providing backpacks, the game truck, the food truck, and collaborating with additional organizations that helped expand the services offered to families.
