The first resolution, adopted on August 6, declared it as Jamaica Independence Day in the City of Boston. This day honors Jamaica's independence and recognizes the significant impact of Jamaican residents throughout the city.

The resolution highlights the numerous ways in which the Jamaican community has enriched Boston, including through entrepreneurship, culture, public service, education, and healthcare. It also acknowledges the importance of celebrating the heritage and achievements of Jamaicans and their diaspora in Boston.

In addition to honoring Jamaica Independence Day, the Council also recognized August 16 as Dominican Cultural Day in the City of Boston. This resolution pays tribute to the contributions of Boston's Dominican community in various fields such as business, sports, politics, education, arts, music, and culture.

She further added that these resolutions are a way to honor and celebrate their contributions towards strengthening the city's social, cultural, and economic fabric.
