RNHA FL Calls All Voters to the Polls with Tu Casa, Tu Voto Initiative
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - TelAve -- For many Florida homeowners, particularly within the Hispanic community, the dream of owning a home is not only about having a place to live, but also about creating opportunities for future generations. Hispanic households have driven homeownership growth nationwide, adding a record 441,000 new homeowners in 2025 alone. But right now, that progress is under threat. Rising property taxes are squeezing hardworking families out of the homes they fought to own, and every month of delay puts more of that hard-won stability at risk. For that reason, the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Florida (RNHAFL) stands firmly in support of the "Save Our Homes from Excessive Property Taxes" amendment passed by the Florida Legislature on June 2nd. Homeowners can calculate their savings at Save Our Homes.

The proposed constitutional amendment on the November 2026 ballot is a firm step toward making homeownership affordable again in Florida. By substantially expanding Florida's homestead property tax exemption, this amendment delivers real, immediate relief to homeowners across our state. If approved, it will raise the homestead exemption for non-school property taxes from $50,000 to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028. Families are struggling right now to keep up with rising costs, and this is a critical, time-sensitive opportunity to help them stay in their homes before more are priced out.
"I am proud to stand firmly behind this amendment because it offers urgent, meaningful tax relief to homeowners who have invested in their communities, fueled Florida's growth, and worked tirelessly to achieve the American dream. Every election cycle we wait for is another cycle where families lose ground. Expanding Florida's homestead protections now will help hardworking families hold onto their homes and preserve the financial stability, safety, and security they have earned," said Chair Casanova

"Thanks to the strong leadership in our state, Floridians can take pride in living in safe communities with excellent schools, outstanding recreational facilities, and meaningful tax relief. This tax break is especially well-deserved for our senior citizens, who have contributed so much to making Florida the great state it is today," added Vice Chair Marta Mesa.
Now it's up to the voters. A vote in favor of this amendment is a vote to protect Florida homeowners before it's too late. Florida families need relief now, not later. I urge every Floridian to learn about this proposal, understand what's at stake, and show up to the ballot this November to make their voice heard while there's still time to act.
