Simic Energy Labs: Toward an Industrial Hydrogen Plasma Economy

TelAve News/10908221
The perspective introduces "minimum viable plasma" and a plasma-as-a-service model in which plasma is priced as an economic unit, delivered through shared infrastructure, and guided by measured physical and economic evidence.

GREAT BEND, Kan. - TelAve -- Simic Energy Labs (SEL) today published "Toward an industrial hydrogen plasma economy," a strategic perspective laying out its plan to make hydrogen plasma a repeatable industrial capability — bought as a service, priced around accepted outcomes, and improved through shared operating evidence.

At the center of the strategy is what SEL calls minimum viable plasma: the least demanding operating regime that reliably performs a useful industrial function. Rather than pursuing records for temperature, density, or confinement, each application would earn its operating conditions against a defined industrial result and its cost.

"Every application should earn its operating conditions," said Milan Simic, Founder of Simic Energy Labs.

SEL's proposed industrial park would combine hydrogen supply, plasma process modules, diagnostics and controls, customer qualification, and AI-driven modeling in a shared environment. Customers could begin with a defined production problem, establish a conventional baseline, and test whether a plasma process offers a measurable advantage — without first building an entire experimental facility.

The service would ultimately be priced around outcomes: material processed to specification, a qualified treatment, or an operating capability delivered within agreed limits. "Plasma becomes an economic unit when the customer can relate the charge to a useful result and compare it with alternative ways of achieving that result," the perspective states.

Instrumented operations would connect plasma conditions to product quality, equipment wear, resource consumption, and cost — turning each run into evidence. "Every experiment should teach us something about the physics and something about the economics," Simic said.

The hydrogen plasma initiative is the first of eleven large-scale research areas SEL is pursuing. The remaining ten span combustion, high-density fuels and power, computing, subsurface, rocketry, space infrastructure, atmospheric science, longevity, post-satellite communications, and vacuum science. Each follows the same institutional discipline: start from a real industrial problem, test against the incumbent method on measured physical and economic evidence, and scale only what the evidence supports.
