Springfield: "Our Blue World" film returns to "EnviroFlick" movie series by popular demand

~ Springfield Environmental Services and the Missouri Water Environment Association are teaming up to bring a special event to the community. On Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 7-9 p.m., the Moxie Cinema will host a screening of "Our Blue World," followed by a panel discussion. The event will take place at the Moxie Cinema located at 305 S. Campbell Ave., Suite 101.

Due to overwhelming interest in the initial screening, Springfield Environmental Services has decided to host a second showing of "Our Blue World" as part of their EnviroFlick film series. The movie is free to attend and will include complimentary popcorn and a beverage, courtesy of the Missouri Water Environment Association. However, seating is limited and attendees are encouraged to reserve a free ticket in advance to guarantee a seat.

The film takes viewers on a global journey to explore how communities are working towards protecting and restoring water systems. From regions facing droughts and floods to innovative approaches that support cleaner water, "Our Blue World" highlights both the challenges ahead and practical solutions already in motion. By incorporating science, technology, and cultural perspectives, the film emphasizes our shared connection to water and our responsibility to protect it.

Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion featuring Mike Kromrey, Executive Director of the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks, and Brent Stock, Executive Director of James River Basin Partnership. Together, they will help connect the global stories in the film to local water challenges and solutions in southwest Missouri.

Laurie Davis, Environmental Services Outreach and Education Coordinator expressed her excitement for this event stating that "water connects us all" and this film provides an opportunity for reflection on its importance not just in Springfield but beyond. She hopes that the conversation following the film will inspire people to think about their daily interactions with water.
