TelAve News/10903029
~ As the wildfires continue to rage in Spokane, the city is facing a devastating reality. According to recent estimates, over 65,000 residents have been displaced and more than 800 residential and business properties have been destroyed. The impact of this disaster knows no boundaries and has affected people from all walks of life.
In light of this crisis, the neighboring city of Tacoma has stepped up to offer their support and compassion. As a journalist, it is heartening to see the community coming together in times of need. Many Tacoma residents have expressed their desire to help and are wondering how they can contribute.
To ensure that donations are used efficiently and effectively, the City of Spokane has set up an emergency relief fund. This fund, called H.O.M.E. Starts Here, typically supports individuals experiencing homelessness but has been adapted to respond to urgent needs during times of crisis. All donations made through this fund will go towards wildfire relief efforts.
