ISLINGTON, U.K. - TelAve -- Terra API today announced that Terra Research has been published in npj Biological Timing and Sleep, a Nature Portfolio journal.

The paper, "Variation in sleep duration across latitudes and countries: a Bayesian hierarchical analysis of wearable data," analyzes 185,143 nights of wearable-derived sleep data from 697 individuals across 49 countries.

The study found that longer daylight was associated with slightly shorter sleep duration, with sleep decreasing by about 4.4 minutes for each additional hour of daylight. The effect was measurable at scale, but smaller than many people might expect. Individual habits and country-level differences explained more variation in sleep duration than latitude or season alone.
