Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Fields As Panola County Criminal District Attorney

~ Panola County, TX- Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Larry Fields as the new Panola County Criminal District Attorney. Fields will officially take on this role on January 1, 2025 and will serve a term that expires on December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Fields, a resident of Carthage, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He is currently an attorney in private practice and has previously served as justice of the peace for Panola County and municipal judge for the City of Tatum. He is also a member of the State Bar of Texas and former president of the Panola County Bar Association.

In addition to his legal career, Fields is actively involved in his community. He is a former board member and member of the Panola County Chamber of Commerce, member of the Carthage Noon Lions Club, former board member of the Rusk-Panola Child Advocacy Center, and former gubernatorial appointee and secretary of the Texas Optometry Board.

Fields holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston. With his extensive background in law and dedication to serving his community, Fields is well-equipped to take on this important role as Panola County's Criminal District Attorney.
