Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Long To 183rd Judicial District Court

~ Houston, TX- Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Lance Long to the 120th Judicial District Court in Harris County. The appointment will be effective from January 1, 2025, and will expire on December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Long, a resident of Houston, currently serves as an assistant criminal district attorney for the Smith County Criminal District Attorney's Office. He brings with him a wealth of experience having previously worked as an assistant district attorney for the Harris County District Attorney's Office and as an attorney and owner of his own law firm, the Law Office of Lance Long. He also served as a staff attorney for the Harris County Office of Court Management.

A member of both the State Bar of Texas and the Texas District & County Attorneys Association, Long holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law.

Governor Abbott expressed confidence in Long's abilities and believes he will serve with integrity and dedication in his new role on the bench. Long's appointment is expected to bring valuable expertise to the 120th Judicial District Court in Harris County.
