~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Tammie Nielsen to the State Board of Education for District 4. Nielsen, a resident of Pasadena, will serve a term until December 31, 2026 or until her successor is elected and qualified.

Nielsen brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as the communications and volunteer director for The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc. She currently holds the position of advancement director at Sarah's House. In addition to her professional roles, Nielsen is an active member of various organizations such as the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region and its Women in Alliance Committee.

She also serves as the president of the City of Pasadena Library Board and is a committee member for the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo. Nielsen is also a member and former board member of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. Her past involvement includes being a member of the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership and the Pasadena Education Foundation.

Nielsen's educational background includes an Associate of Applied Sciences from Houston Community College and a Leadership Institute for Nonprofit Executives Certificate from Rice University. With her diverse experience and qualifications, Nielsen is well-equipped to serve on the State Board of Education for District 4.
