Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Wallace As Upshur County Criminal District Attorney

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Barry Wallace as the new Upshur County Criminal District Attorney. This appointment will be effective as of November 1, 2025 and Wallace's term will expire on December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Wallace, a resident of Gladewater, currently serves as the first assistant for the Upshur County Criminal District Attorney's Office. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in the legal field, being a member of prestigious organizations such as the State Bar of Texas, Texas District and County Attorneys Association, and the Northeast Texas Bar Association.

Aside from his professional achievements, Wallace is also an active member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church Men's Association. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy, having received an Honorable Discharge.

Wallace holds an impressive educational background, having obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from East Texas A&M University (formerly East Texas State University) and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University. With his qualifications and dedication to serving his community, Wallace is sure to excel in his new role as Upshur County Criminal District Attorney.
