Texas: Governor Abbott Meets With First Responders, Delivers Update On State Wildfire Response

~ As the Ross Fire continues to ravage through Palo Pinto and Jack counties, Governor Greg Abbott took a moment to survey the damages and show his support for the affected communities. The governor also took the opportunity to serve meals to first responders and provide an update on the state's ongoing wildfire response.
In a statement, Governor Abbott praised the bravery and resilience of both residents and first responders in facing this disaster. He expressed his gratitude for their efforts, which have resulted in no reported deaths or injuries so far. The governor also assured that once the fire is extinguished, the state will remain involved in addressing the needs of every family in the region and helping to rebuild affected communities.
During his visit, Governor Abbott highlighted the resources that have been provided by the State of Texas to support affected communities. With over 1,300 state responders and 525 pieces of equipment deployed, state and local emergency personnel are working tirelessly to contain the fire. The blaze has already threatened homes, damaged property, impacted infrastructure, and forced evacuations across North Texas.

The governor was joined by Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd, Senator Phil King, Representative Mike Olcott, Palo Pinto County Judge Shane Long, Jack County Judge Brian Keith Umphress, as well as other first responders and state officials. Together, they discussed strategies for managing the wildfire and providing aid to those affected.
Texans who have been impacted by this disaster are urged to report any damage using TDEM's Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) when it is safe to do so. This can be done by visiting damage.tdem.texas.gov. By reporting damage information through this online survey, officials can better connect impacted Texans with necessary resources and services. For more information on wildfire resources available in Texas, individuals can visit disaster.texas.gov.
As efforts continue to contain the Ross Fire and support those affected by it, additional photos will be made available on the Texas Disaster Portal at disaster.texas.gov.
