Texas: Governor Abbott Pledges To Expand School Choice In Edinburg

~ Last night, Governor Greg Abbott addressed a crowd at Harvest Christian Academy in Edinburg during a Parent Empowerment Night. The Governor pledged to work with the Texas Legislature to expand school choice in the current legislative session.

In his speech, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of education excellence and ensuring that every student has access to the best pathway for their individual needs. He also stressed the need for parents to have the ability to choose the educational path that is best for their child.

Governor Abbott declared school choice as an emergency item for the 89th Legislative Session and reaffirmed his unwavering support for this issue. He noted that a majority of Texans, regardless of their location, support expanding school choice for all families in Texas.

The Governor also highlighted his commitment to making Texas the top state in the nation for education. This includes empowering parents, providing funding and training for excellent teachers, and maintaining high academic standards.

Joining Governor Abbott at the event were Representative Janie Lopez, Edinburg Mayor Pro Tem Daniel Diaz, Texas Public Policy Foundation Campaign Director Mandy Drogin, Harvest Christian Academy Head Principal Joe Cruz, Harvest Christian Academy Elementary Principal Joshua Andrade, and other supporters of school choice.

During his State of the State Address on Sunday, Governor Abbott announced school choice as an emergency item for this legislative session. With his continued dedication and support from other leaders and advocates, it is clear that expanding school choice will be a top priority in Texas.
