Texas: Governor Abbott Reappoints Riggs To Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Weldon Riggs to the Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District for a term that will end on February 1, 2029. The district, which covers Wilson, Atascosa, Karnes, and Frio counties, is responsible for preserving and protecting the underground water in these areas.

Riggs, a resident of the Black Hill Community in Atascosa County, is a well-respected cattle rancher. He raises angus cattle in both Atascosa and Bexar counties and is known for his expertise in the industry. In addition to his role as a rancher, Riggs is also heavily involved in various organizations and committees related to agriculture.

He is a member and former director of the Independent Cattlemen's Association of Texas as well as the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. He also serves as a committeeman for the San Antonio Livestock Exposition School Tours Committee and is the construction co-chair for Christmas Village Ministries.

Riggs' dedication to agriculture extends beyond just raising cattle. He also serves as an ag representative for the South Central Texas Regional Water Planning Group Region L and is a board member of the South Texas Weather Modification Association. Additionally, he volunteers with the Blackhill Volunteer Fire Department and serves as records sexton and former president of the Oak Island Cemetery Association.

Riggs' impressive background includes receiving a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences and a Master of Education in Agriculture Education from Texas A&M University. With his extensive experience and knowledge in agriculture, Riggs will undoubtedly continue to be an asset to the Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District during his reappointment term.
