~ At the State Operations Center in Austin, Governor Greg Abbott held a press conference and severe weather briefing today to provide an update on the state's response to the ongoing flooding across Texas. The Governor stated that the flood is expected to break records and that over 1,300 state personnel from more than 30 agencies have already been activated to respond. He also mentioned that more than 800 vehicles, 75 boats, and 20 aircraft have been deployed for rescue efforts.
During the briefing, Governor Abbott received updates on the current impacts of the flood and the state's response efforts. He declared a disaster for 59 counties yesterday and directed emergency response resources to be pre-positioned on Sunday in anticipation of severe flooding.
