National Commemoration Marks the 71st Anniversary of the Murder That Changed America
JACKSON, Miss. - TelAve -- The Emmett Till Legacy Foundation (ETLF), together with Emmett Till Legacy Family members of Mamie Till Mobley and Emmett Till, proudly announces the 71st Anniversary Commemoration Weekend and Educational Tour, taking place August 28–30, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi and communities throughout the Mississippi Delta.
Joining the family and foundation for this historic national commemoration will be Emmett Till Legacy Foundation Ambassadors, legislators, community leaders, impacted and Civil Rights Era families, veterans of the movement, justice advocates, educators, historians, youth, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters from across the world.
This life-changing weekend honors the life and legacy of Emmett Louis Till, the 14-year-old Chicago boy whose brutal murder on August 28, 1955, ignited a global Civil Rights Movement and inspired the March on Washington.
The commemorative events have been thoughtfully curated to connect the past to the present and future. Now, more than ever, it is important that we remember and never forget the undeniable story and legacy of Emmett Till and his mother, Mamie Till Mobley.

This national commemoration serves as a powerful reminder of the continued importance of preserving and protecting our civil rights, voting rights, human rights, and the pursuit of truth, justice, and accountability.
This history will not be erased.
The 71st Anniversary Commemoration also marks the 21st Anniversary of the Emmett Till Legacy Foundation, founded by family members of Mamie Till Mobley and Emmett Till to preserve their legacy, demand truth and justice, educate communities, and empower future generations.
This is a weight we are honored to carry and a promise we continue to keep to our Shero, Mamie Till Mobley. Emmett's death will not be in vain.

9:00 a.m. CST — Till Trail of Tears and Terror Educational Tour
A guided historical and educational journey through the Mississippi Delta, visiting significant locations connected to Emmett Till's final journey, including museums, memorials, and Emmett Till and Mamie Till Mobley National Monument sites.
Sunday, August 30
10:30 a.m. CST — Worship in White with the Till Legacy family, honoring the faith, strength, and resilience that sustained Mamie Till Mobley and generations of the Till Legacy Family.
