The Hot Sardines Return to Frederick for a Night of Vintage Jazz at the Weinberg Center
TelAve News/10905779
FREDERICK, Md. - TelAve -- The Hot Sardines, a beloved revivalist jazz band that emerged from Brooklyn's underground party scene, will bring its reinvigorated take on classic jazz back to the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, Md., on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at 8 p.m.
Tickets start at $25 and may be purchased online, by calling the box office at 301-600-2828, or in person at 20 W Patrick St. Discounts are available for students, children, military, and seniors.
Since forming nearly 20 years ago, The Hot Sardines have gone on to tour worldwide and record a string of albums that have racked up more than 70 million streams. Their "potent and assured" (The New York Times), "simply phenomenal" (The Times, London) brand of reinvigorated classic jazz has landed them at the center of a whirlwind. Released on June 19, 2026, their new studio album, Good News, is perhaps their most exuberant, reading like a love letter to the American songbook and the rowdy, cosmopolitan world that produced it. Tin Pan Alley favorites—including George and Ira Gershwin's "Oh, Lady Be Good," Isham Jones and Gus Kahn's "It Had to Be You," and Walter Donaldson and Kahn's "Love Me or Leave Me"—share the spotlight with New Orleans firepower in Earl King's "Big Chief" and the Fats Waller co-write "Ain't Misbehavin'."

Good News follows the Sardines' acclaimed Banned Jazz project, which debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2024 and celebrated joy as an act of resistance. Where Banned Jazz was a history lesson delivered as a party, Good News is the thing itself: hot jazz, stride piano, brass, and a voice from another era landing squarely in this one.
