PORT ARTHUR, Texas - TelAve -- Sertoma International is pleased to welcome Tim Romero of Port Arthur, Texas, as the 2026-2027 International President. This marks the culmination of a three-year journey through Sertoma's international leadership progression.

Romero joined Sertoma as a charter member of the Triplex Breakfast Sertoma Club in 1986. He served as the club's second president, completing two consecutive terms. After stepping away from Sertoma to focus on raising children, Romero returned to the organization in 2011 as a member of the Port Arthur Sertoma Club. Since then, he has served in every club leadership position except secretary and treasurer, including two terms as club president. In recognition of his dedication and service, he was named the Port Arthur Sertoma Club and Heart of America Region Sertoman of the Year in 2023.

At the international level, Romero has served as a Fundraising District Representative, District Governor, Heart of America Regional Director, Communication Specialist and Mission Specialist. In 2022, he was appointed treasurer of Hearing Charities of America, supporting the organization's hearing health mission. He has also earned two Sertoma Leadership Awards and the Service 500 Award.

He remains actively involved in his community through his church and Scouting America, where he serves as an Associate Lodge Advisor in the Order of the Arrow, Three Rivers Council. He has received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest recognition presented by his local council to an adult volunteer, in recognition of more than 20 years of service.

Romero has been married to fellow Sertoman Vickie for 40 years, and together they share two children and four grandchildren.

As president, he hopes to make Service to Mankind a part of each member's everyday life. He believes we all have the opportunity to make someone's day through simple acts of kindness and compassion.

"Every time we give our time, talent and treasure, we have the opportunity to positively impact someone's life," Romero said. "Imagine the difference we could make if each of us looked for at least one opportunity every day to make someone's day a little brighter. That's the heart of service. That's the spirit of Sertoma."
