MILWAUKEE - TelAve -- Take the Amtrak Hiawatha out of Chicago Union Station, and an hour and 29 minutes later you are at the Breathwork Certification in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Liquid Breathwork runs it Friday through Sunday, June 11 to 13, 2027, and Milwaukee is the only Midwest city on its 2027 calendar.

"June in Milwaukee is the start of summer on Lake Michigan," said Ryan McBurney, who co-founded Liquid Breathwork with Shelby Von Oepen. "It's an easy trip from Chicago, Madison and Green Bay, so the whole Upper Midwest can get to it."

Wisconsin gets one training in 2027, with no Madison date. Madison is a straight run east on I-94. The Lake Express ferry crosses from Muskegon, and the Borealis runs daily from St. Paul.

The three days cover the signature Liquid Breathwork session, breath holds, cueing, and how to open and close a session for one person or a full room. Everything starts from the sigh of relief. The breather sets the depth, and nobody chases a big release.

Ryan and Shelby teach all of it together, and contraindications, waivers and insurance get their own time.

Then the business side: session rates and filling your first rooms, whether that is in Southeastern Wisconsin or back home in Chicagoland.

Che Fegan, a Liquid Breathwork student, wrote on Google about Ryan: "He has been so warm and authentic from the first moment we got introduced."

Training days go from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with snacks on hand, and enrollment stops at 20. The space is not signed yet, so we are not naming a neighborhood. Downtown, the Historic Third Ward and Bay View are all easy places to stay. Pricing is public: $1,997 for each of the first five seats, $2,497 after that. A $250 deposit locks in a spot, and payment plans are available. Your deposit transfers to another training date. Refunds are handled case by case.
