Guided Results Founder Lisa Ullven Highlights How Mentoring Can Improve Health, Hope, & Housing Outcomes While Creating Stronger Communities

TAMPA, Fla. - TelAve -- Lisa Blackburn Ullven, founder of Guided Results and author of Secrets to Sustainable Solutions, is calling on communities nationwide to rethink mentoring as a powerful strategy for addressing society's most persistent challenges.

According to MENTOR, The National Mentoring Partnership, 74% of individuals surveyed credited meaningful mentors with contributing significantly to their success, while younger mentees were 92% more likely to volunteer in their communities.

"Any business would consider percentages like that worth acting on," Ullven said. "These improvement percentages represent the two for one special, being good for business and communities."

Through coaching conversations with executive directors and volunteer coordinators nationwide, Ullven discovered a recurring theme where there is a shortage of mentors, leaving thousands of children and youth waiting for support.

Determined to better understand these obstacles, Ullven discovered that mentoring organizations can often accommodate different schedules, interests and personal strengths, challenging the misconception that volunteering requires extensive time commitments. Her approach incorporates research surrounding Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) and the HOPE framework, Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences. Researchers Dr. Robert Sege and Dr. Christina Bethell have emphasized how supportive relationships with trusted adults can help counteract the negative impact of childhood adversities.

These findings support Ullven's vision of connecting a solution to three critical challenges: Health, Hope, and Homelessness.

At the PACE Hillsborough conference, Ullven had an opportunity to brainstorm with Dr. Sege about expanding positive experiences for young people. She believes identifying and removing mentoring barriers (real and perceived) could help communities strengthen resilience, emotional well-being, and long-term stability. Ullven also encourages alternatives to traditional mentoring. Cross-grade programs connect older students with younger children, while professionals can share expertise in education, careers, creativity and personal development. Her message, Discover Your Hidden Mentor Power!

"If every adult who has benefited from having a positive adult influence in their lives became a mentor, imagine the supply of support we could create," Ullven said. "A good thing is worth repeating."

Through Guided Results, Ullven continues bringing businesses, schools, and community organizations together to develop practical, sustainable solutions. What if one of society's most powerful solutions is something almost everyone can do?
