TelAve News/10883516
~ Colorado Springs, CO - The City of Colorado Springs celebrated the grand opening of Grey Hawk Park today with a community ribbon-cutting ceremony. This marks the completion of a highly anticipated neighborhood park, providing a new space for families to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor Yemi Mobolade, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services (PRCS) Director Britt Haley, Councilmember Tom Bailey, former City Council President Randy Helms, and Grey Hawk Homeowners Association (HOA) leadership. They reflected on the project's history and the collaborative effort that brought the park to life.
In his speech, Mayor Yemi emphasized the importance of parks as critical community infrastructure. "Parks are not just a 'nice extra'," he stated. "They give kids a place to play and grow, families a place to gather, and neighbors a reason to meet. They create pride and belonging within our community."

Located at 950 Spectrum Loop, Grey Hawk Park spans 4.47 acres and features an inclusive 6,500-square-foot playground, accessible walking loops, a multi-use field, half-court basketball area, picnic pavilion, site furniture, shade trees, and a natural area with soft-surface trails and an overlook with views of the south and west foothills.
The project was completed under budget at approximately $1.8 million by the City's dedicated staff. This is below the original estimate of $2.2 million. "This was a complex project," said Haley. "But thanks to our amazing staff, we were able to deliver a high-quality park while stretching every dollar to meet our community's expectations."
