City of Idaho Falls to Begin Annual Leaf Collection on Oct. 26
TelAve News/10909500
~ Idaho Falls will begin its annual curbside leaf collection on Oct. 26, with crews scheduled to work across the city through Nov. 20, the city's Public Works Department said.
Residents are encouraged to check the Leaf Collection Map & Schedule for their neighborhood's pickup date and rake leaves to the curb one week beforehand. The schedule may change because of weather or workload.
Street Division crews will make one collection of loose leaves. They may arrive a few days early to remove large piles with heavy equipment before street sweepers clear the area. Additional collections are not guaranteed, the city said.
Leaves must be free of sticks, branches, trash and other debris. Residents should move vehicles, trailers and other items off the street so crews can reach the leaves. The city said crews cannot collect piles blocked by vehicles or mixed with debris.

"Many new residents may not know about this helpful, annual service that the City of Idaho Falls provides," Public Works Director Chris Canfield said. Residents can move leaves to the curb, "and we'll take care of the rest," he said.
Residents who miss their scheduled pickup or cannot rake leaves to the curb can use one of two free options for bagged leaves. Bags weighing less than 50 pounds can be dropped off at the Bonneville County Transfer Station, 2455 Hemmert Ave. Residents can also arrange one free curbside pickup through the Idaho Falls Sanitation Division by calling 208-612-8491. Residents must provide their own bags.
The city also reminded property owners to trim trees and branches above streets. Under City Code Title 8, Chapter 9, clearance must be at least 13 feet above the street at the curb and 15 feet at the centerline.
For questions about leaf collection, residents can contact the Street Division at 208-612-8490.
