Colorado Springs: CSFD Incident Update: Dec. 13, 2025
TelAve News/10884188
~ Colorado Springs, CO - On Saturday afternoon, the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded to multiple reports of a structure fire at 3170 N Century St. According to initial information, a building was engulfed in flames and producing heavy smoke that could be seen from various parts of the city.
At 2:43 p.m., CSFD Engine 6, which happened to be in the area, immediately called for backup and declared a working structure fire. Upon arrival at 2:48 p.m., firefighters discovered a large pile of styrofoam and construction materials burning in an outdoor area of the involved business.
The fire appeared to have been intentionally set, according to CSFD Fire Investigators who responded to the scene. As a result, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Regional Explosives Unit was notified and has taken over responsibility for the investigation.

Due to the size of the fire and the need for additional resources, a second alarm was quickly requested. However, firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the pile and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. Heavy equipment was brought in to break apart the pile and ensure that no active fire remained.
After approximately 45 minutes, the fire was successfully extinguished with no reported injuries. The CSFD Fire Investigations Unit and CSPD Regional Explosives Unit are working together on this case as they do with any fire that appears to be criminal in nature.
All further updates on this ongoing investigation will come from CSPD's Public Affairs Section. At this time, there is no additional information available.
