(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police have made an arrest in connection to a shoplifting incident that occurred in April on North Stadium Boulevard. According to authorities, 24-year-old Damon Lasha Thompson Jr. of Columbia has been identified as the suspect.

The arrest came after a traffic stop on May 8 by the Columbia Police Street Crimes Unit, where detectives discovered evidence linking Thompson to drug distribution. A search warrant was subsequently executed at his residence, where additional evidence of illegal drug activity and firearms violations was found.

Thompson has been charged with distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, delivery of marijuana and drug trafficking. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbia Police Department or CrimeStoppers.

The case numbers for this incident are 2025-003108 and 2025-004136. Those who provide information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500.
