Florida: Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Four to the Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed three new members and reappointed one member to the Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling in Tallahassee, Florida.

The newly appointed members are Alexandra O'Brien, Lidia Martinez, and Stacey Reed. O'Brien is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Tallahassee Counseling and Consulting. She is an active member of the Association for Play Therapy and has previously worked at Camelot Community Cares and PlayBig Therapy and Learning Center. O'Brien holds a bachelor's and master's degree in social work from Florida State University.

Martinez, who holds a PhD in counseling, is a Mental Health Counselor in Private Practice. She also serves as part-time Core Faculty at Nova Southeastern University's Department of Counseling. Martinez completed her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Miami and her master's degree and doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.

Reed brings her experience as the Executive Director for Lauren's Legacy Pregnancy Center to the board. She has also served as a Regional Outreach Director for Destiny Worship Center. Reed holds a bachelor's degree from the University of West Florida and a master's degree from the University of Alabama.

Additionally, Tanya Kraus has been reappointed to the board. Kraus currently serves as a Social Services Manager for Broward Health Medical Center and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker through the Florida Department of Health since 2015. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degree in social work from Florida International University.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. The Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling plays an important role in regulating these professions to ensure high-quality services for Floridians. With these new appointments, Governor DeSantis continues his commitment to appointing qualified individuals to serve on important boards within the state.
