Florida: Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Nine to the Board of Dentistry

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed five new members and reappointed four existing members to the Board of Dentistry. The newly appointed members are Marc Anderson, Andrew Forrest, Dr. Chadwick Marshall, Jessica Stilley-Mallah, and Elizabeth Traverso. The reappointed members are Dr. Bradley Cherry, Karyn Hill, Angela Johnson, and Nicholas White.

Marc Anderson is a dentist at Anderson Dental and currently serves in the Florida Army National Guard. He has also served in the United States Air Force in the past. Anderson holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Southern California. He is currently pursuing his juris doctor from the University of New Hampshire.

Andrew Forrest is the Founder and Clinical Director of Orange Park Dental Partners. He has previously served as a faculty reviewer for the Periodontics Chapter in the McGraw-Hill Clinical Dentistry textbook and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Florida's Department of Periodontics. Forrest earned his master's degree in oral immunology from the University of Florida and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Miami.

Dr. Chadwick Marshall is the Owner and Surgeon at Chadwick J. Marshall Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an active member of his community and has served as a board member and former President of both the Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Okaloosa-Walton Dental Society. Dr. Marshall received his bachelor's degree in biology from Florida State University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Florida.

Jessica Stilley-Mallah is a Periodontist at Periodontal Health Center in Tampa. She is an active member in her community, serving on various committees such as the American Dental Association Dental Content Committee and previously as the President of the West Coast District Dental Association. Stilley-Mallah holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Florida, a master's degree in oral biology from The Ohio State University, and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Florida.

Elizabeth Traverso is an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit. She has been recognized for her work on prosecuting gang cases with the 2022 Prosecutor of the Year Award from the Suncoast Police Benevolent Association. Traverso earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida and her juris doctor from the University of Florida.

Dr. Bradley Cherry is the Owner and Surgeon at Bradley A. Cherry Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an active member of his community, belonging to organizations such as the Florida and American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Academy of Osseointegration, and International Congress of Oral Implants. Dr. Cherry received his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia, master's degree from College of William & Mary, Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Florida.

Karyn Hill is a self-employed Dental Hygienist Consultant and Chief Examiner for the American Board of Dental Examiners. She currently serves as the American Board of Dental Examiners Dental Hygiene Chair for the United States and is a member on both their Appeals Committee and Discipline and Grievance Committee. Hill holds an associate degree in dental hygiene from Palm Beach State College and a bachelor's degree in oral health promotion from O'Hehir University.

Angela Johnson is a Registered Dental Hygienist at D. Mark Volteral's Dental Office in DeLand. She is an active member in her community, serving on committees such as Victoria Gardens Women's Club and American Dental Hygiene Association. Johnson received her associate degree in dental hygiene from Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Nicholas White is a Pediatric Dentist at Nicholas A. White, DMD, P.A. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, American and Florida Academies of Pediatric Dentistry, and Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry. White holds a bachelor's degree in health sciences from the University of Nevada and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Florida.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. The Board of Dentistry plays a crucial role in regulating and overseeing the practice of dentistry in the state, ensuring that all dentists meet the highest standards of care for their patients. With these new and reappointed members, Governor DeSantis is confident that the Board will continue to serve its purpose effectively.
