Florida: Governor Ron DeSantis Makes Five Judicial Appointments

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Governor Ron DeSantis has announced five new judicial appointments today, filling vacancies in various courts across the state.

One of the appointments is Judge Katherine Miller, who will now serve as a Judge on the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court. Miller has been a County Court Judge for Volusia County since 2023 and previously worked as an Attorney for Wright & Casey P.A. She holds a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and a juris doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law. Her appointment fills a vacancy created by the enactment of Senate Bill 2508.

Joining her on the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court is Frank Talbot, who has been appointed as a Judge. Talbot brings with him years of experience as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida since 2002 and previously served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Tenth Judicial Circuit. He holds a bachelor's degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and a juris doctor from Mercer University. His appointment also fills a vacancy created by Senate Bill 2508.

In Putnam County, Kenneth Johnson has been appointed to serve as a Judge on the County Court. Johnson has been an Assistant State Attorney for the Seventh Judicial Circuit since 2009 and previously served in the Second Judicial Circuit. He holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University and a juris doctor from Stetson University. His appointment fills a vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Morris.

Steven Wilson will now serve as a Judge on the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Court after being appointed by Governor DeSantis. Wilson has worked as an Associate Attorney for Rossway, Swan, Tierney, Barry, and Oliver since 2021 and previously served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit. He holds a bachelor's degree from Harding University and a juris doctor from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. His appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Mirman.

Lastly, Katherine Mish has been appointed as a Judge on the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Court. Mish has been an Attorney for Treasure Coast Legal since 2015 and previously worked as an Associate Attorney for Cleaveland & Cleaveland P.L. She holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University and a juris doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law. Her appointment fills a vacancy created by Senate Bill 2508.

These appointments come as Governor DeSantis continues to fulfill his promise of appointing qualified and experienced individuals to serve in the state's judicial system. With these new judges in place, the courts will be better equipped to handle the growing number of cases and provide fair and just rulings for all Floridians.
