TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ Tallahassee, FL - In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed four individuals to serve as judges in various courts across the state. These appointments come as a result of the enactment of Senate Bill 2508, which created several judicial vacancies.

One of the appointees is Danielle Sherriff, who will serve as a Judge on the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court. Sherriff, a resident of Boynton Beach, has been serving as a County Court Judge on the Palm Beach County Court since 2023. Prior to that, she worked as an Assistant State Attorney in the same circuit. She holds a bachelor's degree from Florida International University and a juris doctor from Florida State University.

Michael Barnett, from Greenacres, has been appointed to serve as a Judge on the Palm Beach County Court. Barnett brings with him years of experience in public service, having previously served as a Trustee on the Palm Beach State College District Board of Trustees and as a County Commissioner for the Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida and a juris doctor from the University of Miami.

Judge Kennedy Legler has been appointed to serve on the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court. Legler has been serving as a County Court Judge for Sarasota County since 2023 and previously worked as an Assistant State Attorney in the same circuit. He obtained both his bachelor's degree and juris doctor from Stetson University.

Lastly, Megan Leaf has been appointed to serve as a Judge on the Sarasota County Court. Leaf has been working as an Assistant State Attorney for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit since 2017 and previously served as Supervising Attorney for the Florida Department of Children and Families in that circuit. She holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University and a juris doctor from Stetson University.

These appointments fill judicial vacancies created by Senate Bill 2508, as well as the retirement of Judge Denkin. Governor DeSantis expressed confidence in the qualifications and experience of these appointees and believes they will serve their respective courts with integrity and fairness.
