TelAve News/10883138
~ Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the City of Brownwood has been designated as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Music Office (TMO). This designation comes after the city completed a multi-step certification process. The Music Friendly Texas program, which was introduced by TMO in 2016, aims to promote music business-related economic development and job creation in cities and communities across Texas.
In a statement, Governor Abbott congratulated Brownwood on earning this prestigious designation. He also highlighted the significant impact of the music industry in Texas, which accounts for over 196,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generates more than $31 billion in annual economic activity statewide. The governor expressed his commitment to working with communities across the state to create more job opportunities and boost economic growth.
With this new designation, Brownwood joins the ranks of other Tourism Friendly Texas and Music Friendly Texas Certified Communities. Senator Phil King also congratulated the city on its achievement, noting that Brownwood has always been a hub for thriving Texas music. He also mentioned how the construction of the Brownwood Event Center has contributed to this success.
