TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed three new members and reappointed one to the Space Florida Board of Directors. The newly appointed members are Belinda Keiser, Alex King, and Tim Thomas, while Matthew Bocchino has been reappointed.

Belinda Keiser brings a wealth of experience to the board as the Vice Chancellor of Community Relations and Student Advancement at Keiser University. She is also actively involved in her community, having served on various committees such as the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet, the Florida Commission on the Status of Women, and the Seventeenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Keiser holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University and a master's degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University.

Alex King, who has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Panama City Port Authority, also joins the board with an impressive background. He previously served as the Deputy Director of Cargo Operations and Business Development and Operations Manager for the Panama City Port Authority. King holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and logistics from Auburn University.

Tim Thomas, a veteran of the United States Army with over 20 years of service, has been appointed as a Consultant for I3 Solutions. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and brings his expertise to the board. Thomas holds a bachelor's degree in political science and government from Auburn University at Montgomery, a master's degree in public administration from Central Michigan University, and is also a graduate from Command and General Staff College.

The only reappointment to the board is Matthew Bocchino who currently serves as Director of Cecil Airport and Spaceport under Jacksonville Aviation Authority. Bocchino was recognized by Airport Business Magazine as one of their "Top 40 Under 40" recipients in 2020. He is also a member of Commercial Space Federation Board. Bocchino holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in business administration from Jacksonville University.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate, and the new members are expected to bring valuable insights and expertise to the Space Florida Board of Directors. With their diverse backgrounds and experiences, they will play a crucial role in shaping the future of space exploration and development in Florida.
