Juneau: Calhoun Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Closed

~ A pedestrian bridge and stairs over Calhoun Avenue in downtown Juneau have closed after an inspection by Alaska Department of Transportation bridge engineers found the 1977 structure had exceeded its useful life, the City and Borough of Juneau said.

The city installed closure signs and barriers Friday, October 9, and said access was restricted for safety. Officials have not decided whether to demolish or replace the bridge.
The public is asked to follow posted signs and use an alternative pedestrian route to and from Dixon Street.
